Terms of Use
The conditions and responsibilities that apply when using Kardix.
Effective and last updated: June 17, 2026
These Terms of Use govern access to Kardix at maotaw.com. By using the website or generator, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Operator and scope
Kardix is an independent project operated by Savvas Katsikas in Rommerskirchen, Germany. The website provides a browser-based deterministic credential generator and educational material about passwords, passkeys, two-factor authentication, recovery, and related security topics.
2. Acceptable use
You may use Kardix for lawful personal or organizational purposes. You must not use the website to attack, disrupt, overload, scrape at an abusive rate, bypass security controls, distribute malware, violate another person’s privacy, gain unauthorized access, or facilitate fraud. You must not present Kardix as your own service in a way that falsely implies endorsement or an official relationship.
3. Your responsibility for secrets and account access
Kardix does not operate a password vault and cannot recover a forgotten root passphrase, optional PIN, account label, generated credential, or historical algorithm choice. You are responsible for choosing strong inputs, remembering or securely documenting non-secret conventions, testing reproducibility, and maintaining independent account-recovery methods. Do not rely on Kardix as the only path to an essential account without first testing the process.
4. Safe use limitations
Local generation does not protect against every threat. A compromised device, malicious browser extension, keylogger, screen recorder, clipboard monitor, phishing site, weak passphrase, reused secret, or unsafe recovery email can expose credentials. Kardix does not guarantee that a generated credential will meet every website’s policy or remain accepted after a website changes its rules.
5. No professional advice
Articles and explanations are general educational information, not legal, financial, compliance, or individualized cybersecurity advice. Organizations with regulatory, contractual, or high-risk security requirements should obtain advice appropriate to their systems and jurisdiction.
6. Availability and changes
The website may be modified, suspended, or discontinued. The generator’s algorithm version, interface, hosting, articles, and third-party components may change. Deterministic compatibility depends on the same inputs and algorithm profile. Where a change would alter generated outputs, it should be identified as a new version rather than silently replacing the existing profile, but uninterrupted compatibility is not guaranteed.
7. No warranty
Kardix is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, security, or uninterrupted operation to the fullest extent permitted by law. No security tool can promise complete protection, and no generated password can guarantee that an account will not be compromised.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of or inability to use Kardix, including account lockout, forgotten inputs, lost data, lost profit, compromise caused by an infected device, or reliance on educational content. Mandatory liability that cannot legally be excluded remains unaffected.
9. Third-party services and advertising
The website may use hosting, security, and advertising providers, including Google AdSense. Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Kardix does not control the content, availability, or data practices of an external website reached through a link or advertisement.
10. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the Kardix name, site design, original articles, and original presentation are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Limited quotations and links are welcome where legally permitted and properly attributed. These terms do not grant permission to copy the entire site, republish articles as your own, or create a misleading clone.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, taking account of mandatory European Union and consumer-protection rules. If you are a consumer, mandatory rights and the jurisdiction protections of your country of residence remain unaffected. Where legally permitted for business users, disputes should be handled by the competent courts in Germany.
12. Severability and changes
If one provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. The terms may be updated to reflect changes in the project, law, or providers. The date at the top identifies the current version.
13. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to maotaw17@gmail.com. Operator and location details are also available on the Contact and Imprint pages.
