What this fix is for
Windows Search depends on an index. If search results are missing, slow, or outdated, rebuilding the index makes Windows scan files and locations again.
Before you run it
Rebuilding the index is safe but can temporarily use CPU and disk while Windows scans. Leave the PC plugged in if the library is large.
Steps
1. Run the command to open Indexing Options.
2. Click Advanced.
3. Choose Rebuild and wait for Windows to index again.
After the command
If Start menu search itself does not open, restart Windows Explorer or run the SFC and DISM repair page.
