Stateless password manager alternatives

A stateless password system does not retrieve each password from a stored database. Instead, it recreates credentials from a repeatable set of inputs.

Potential advantages

There is no central collection of generated passwords to synchronize, and the same tool may work across devices when the algorithm is available.

Important limitations

There may be no recovery service, password history, sharing, autofill, or easy rotation. A conventional encrypted vault remains better for many users.
